Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Congratulations to the following students who were confirmed on Sunday by Bishop Paul at St Mary's of the Angels - Xavier, Xaviera, Anya, Sophia D, Sophia W, Shenaya, Lana, Shaun, Dominic, Dana and Kundiso. It was wonderful to see the range of Saints the children had chosen for their Confirmation name.
We had a wonderful "Thank You Morning Tea" last Thursday to thank all the wonderful people who are a part of our amazing school. Our students honored the wide range of people who support the smooth running of our school.
Congratulations to Hannah who was acknowledged by the New Zealand Education Institute as completing two full years of teaching. Hannah is now a fully registered teacher. A beautiful pounamu was given to Hannah on behalf of our school community. Staff sang Hannah 'Ko Waiata' as a recognition of Mary the mother of Jesus and her accepting the role of mother of future generations. We wanted Hannah to remember the treasure of the people associated with Sacred Heart Cathedral School.
Have a wonderful week.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Our End of Year Mass will take place at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul on Wednesday, 13th December at 10.45 am. All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend. SUMMER SOCCER:
Sacred Heart Junior Strikers vs Snow Leopards lost 1-4.
A tough, but well-played game. While four goals got through, heaps were stopped. Player of the Day was Xander (photo on left, Room 1) for never hesitating to get amongst it and playing with full heart.
Some great tries and some super team play. Player of the day was Harley (Room 5) for his amazing tries and special mention to Fletcher (Room 6) for his great defence effort and putting pressure on them.
Karori West Normal School - Thank you!
Helen Carr, the food technology teacher at Karori West Normal School would like to extend a big thank you to our parents who donated New World stickers for the MasterChef cookware promotion. Here is a photo of what they were able to get. Thanks to the kindness of their school and client schools!

St Mary’s Old Girls Association Christmas Lunch 3 December
SMOGA is having their Christmas lunch at Bay Plaza Hotel which will be a two-course buffet on 3 December. We will gather at 11.30 am when we can buy a drink from the bar and have a chance to catch up with everyone. Lunch will be served at 12 pm. There will be vegetarian and gluten free options available. The cost is $40.
We are pleased to say that our guest speaker will be Lan Pham who attended St Mary’s from 1999 to 2003. She also attended our school, Sacred Heart Cathedral School, for her primary education. In the election this year she became a Member of Parliament as a result of being Number 6 on the Greens party’s list. It will be fascinating to hear her life story.
The Bay Plaza staff have asked that we pay before we go so they know how much food to organise. If you would like to come please pay $40 directly into St Mary’s Old Girls’ Association account 02-0500-0021940-00 making sure you include your name, so we know who has paid. If you need vegetarian or gluten free options please email Judy. If you have any questions, please contact Judy Houlahan on smogwell@gmail.com.
