Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
This week we celebrate Te Wiki o te reo - to make the language even stronger.
This is an important kaupapa that promotes the indigenous language of Aotearoa. This year marks the 36th anniversary of te Reo Māori becoming an official language of Aotearoa after a bill introduced by Koro Wētere was passed in 1987.
As a school, we try to give our students and staff many opportunities to speak Te reo. We are looking forward to sharing what we have been learning this year about the narratives from our area. As a staff, we feel empowered and we know that we are setting up our students to be culturally rich in their understanding of te ao Māori.
Looking forward to seeing you all tonight up at Victoria University.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

Sacred Heart Cathedral School
We're excited to invite all our wonderful grandparents to our upcoming Grandparents' Liturgy. This will be held on Monday the 16th of October at 1.20pm at St Mary's hall. Please see the attached notice for more details.
We had a stunning liturgy to celebrate St Lorenzo Ruiz.
The weather was stunning and the children were so confident sharing their knowledge about St Lorenzo Ruiz and the wonderful way he helped others.
Thank you to our Filippino community who fed a whole school. The treats were incredible, especially the Spanish Bread, Donuts, and Ensaymada - so delicious!
This was such a wonderful occasion for us all and I am so grateful to the team of people who got in behind this for our children.

Message from The Attendance Dues Team
We are getting a new data base which will be going live by the end of the year. This will include a Parent Portal at some stage, which will mean parents can log in and see their account balance and manage their account details. This secure self-service platform will also allow you to make payments. Watch this space!
All communication by us are now via email so please check that emails from dues@wn.catholic.org.nz do not go to your Spam/Junk Inbox so that you receive all communications from ourselves.
If you are paying by regular instalments your account should be paid by the end of November, or by payment plan as agreed by us. It is preferable to have a regular instalment that keeps your account in hand.
Financial assistance is available to families experiencing financial hardship (loss of income/redundancy, family reasons, etc.). It is a condition of the assistance application that the family has an affordable regular payment in place. You apply for this assistance with the school.
