Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update From Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Another fabulous week here at school.
With this changeable weather please make sure that your child has their school jersey and a black warm jacket.
There is so much second hand uniform to give away. Please help yourself or let us know if you need anything and we can give to your child.
We had a beautiful liturgy on Friday to honour mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and significant women in the lives of our tamariki. We really did enjoy being back together and connecting with each other.

This Sunday is the Ascension of the Lord. This is when Jesus arose into heaven at the end of his time on earth.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt
Tumuaki
Sacred Heart Cathedral School
Thank you so much for all the information you shared with us in term one through our community survey. The information has been so helpful to the staff and trustees.
On Sunday, 21st May, the Board will meet to set the strategic direction for the next three years.
Consistent routines and mileage is a big component of learning, where the neurological pathways in our brains require repetitive exposure to strengthen and cement learning and develop mastery. We also develop these neural pathways for resilience, perseverance, and discipline.
Everyone knows that a good sports team or musician requires regular practice, so we need to apply the same principles to our educational pathway at school. Please help to ensure that your child has the best opportunity for success by making sure he/she is in school every day.
Why is it so important to attend school every day?
· Learning is a progressive activity; each day’s lessons build upon those of the previous day(s).
· Reading the material and completing work independently does not compensate for the loss of insight gained during class discussions or the loss of competency acquired through explanation or supervised activities/tasks.
· Teachers use discussions, demonstrations, experiments and participation, as part of the daily learning activities, and these cannot be made up by those who are absent.
· Regular student participation in daily classroom activities plays a significant role in a student’s school success.
Message from The Attendance Dues Team
Just a friendly reminder that full payment of the Attendance Dues for 2023 is due by 31st May 2023. If you are paying by regular instalments, payments should be set up to close the balance by 30th November 2022 or by arrangement with the Dues team.
The May invoice/statement was emailed or posted to all families on 5th May. Please check that the invoice has not gone to your Spam/Junk Inbox and that all your children are listed on the statement.
Financial assistance is available to families experiencing financial hardship (loss of income/redundancy, family reasons, etc.). It is a condition of the assistance application that the family has an affordable regular payment in place.
