Dear God,
You come to us in Jesus who teaches us that the way to happiness is through our love for one another.
Watch over the teachers, students and families of Sacred Heart Cathedral School as we try to be faithful to this teaching.
Help us to be a welcoming and joyful community, so that others may come to know your love and peace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Weekly Update from Bernadette Murfitt
Kia ora koutou e te whānau,
Welcome Diego (Rm 1) and Sophie (Rm 8) to Sacred Heart Cathedral School. You are going to have a wonderful time here and you will make lifelong friends. A very warm welcome to your whānau as well.
Today is Ash Wednesday. We had a beautiful Liturgy and each child received ashes.
"For forty days we prepare for the new life of Easter, the cross reminds us that we all have hard things to do in life. When we accept these things as Jesus accepted his cross, we know we are following Jesus."
Thank you, thank you so much for the kindness and generosity you showed at very short notice. It really has been difficult to comprehend what has happened across our country in recent weeks. And also add to the mix an earthquake.
He iti te mokoroa, nāna i kati te kahikatea.
The mokoroa (grub) may be small, but it cuts through the Kahikatea.
This whakatauki reflects that small things can have a great impact. It encourages us to think big. Although numbers or resources may be small, like the mokoroa, it is possible to achieve great tasks/achievements.
Emergency details: Please make sure we have accurate information for our school data base, especially phone numbers. Please email frances@sacred-heart.school.nz if you need to update your details.
Please ensure you have after-school arrangements. Most days after school our teaching team has professional development. Students who have not been picked up by 2.40pm or are not attending After School School Care are expected to wait outside Room 2 for their parent or caregiver.
Have a great week.
Arohanui,
Bernadette Murfitt

If you have any great ideas that will make us more sustainable as citizens, please email the office so we can all learn from each other.
If you have bananas that are going brown -
Put them in the freezer and when convenient make either a banana cake, banana bread or even banana muffins.
Here is a very easy, tasty banana bread - great for school lunches.
